My life has been a whirlwind. Too little space to detail it, but for the last 11 years I've been in Sagle, Idaho, working hard and having lots of fun.  It's beautiful with lakes, rivers, mountains, and lots of trees.  Am really looking forward to seeing my classmates of 1970!  Sure hope my memory works... February 20, 1952 Administrative Assistant Committed Relationship 2 John Tuck and Redmond High School, The Dalles Jr High, Maupin Union HS yes no
We will be on a construction site in Hawaii by the time the reunion rolls around.
Raised my boys in a small community south of The Dalles. As a family, we spent alot of time camping in the woods, or at the Oregon coast, riding 4 wheelers on the dunes. My boys were into hot rods and anything else that was  fast and loud. My oldest son owns a custom hot rod and collision shop and my younger son works there as well.
I worked as office manager for the local newspaper in The Dalles, and stayed for 21 years.  One of my brothers is General Mgr. for a Renewable Energy construction company, a division based in Portland, and convinced me to move, so I went to work with him in 2008. It is a very complex and interesting industry. Some love it, and some hate it, but it is the newest in what will be just a part of  the future of clean energy.
Hobbies include sewing, belonged to a quiltting  group, and we made Patriotic quilts and sent them to servicemen and women while my younger brother was  in Iraq.
Have worked in florals for many years, and crafts of all kinds.
I have four grandchildren, who range from age 13 to 4 months. 2 boys and 2 girls, who all are the love of my life. I live close to 2 of them, and only an hour from the two oldest ones. We have alot of fun.
Hope all of you enjoy the reunion and making more memories.

September 29, 1951 Retired Married 2 Ochoco Elementary, John Tuck, RHS No No

40 years...where does time go? How do you sum up 40 years in a couple of paragraphs? Before I start telling about my path of life, and subsequent accomplishments, it is only fair to post the disclaimer that this will be to the best of my ability to remember them, and may or may not correctly include all the facts. I am fairly certain that I have never climbed Mt. Everest, or argued a case before the US Supreme Court. However...dogs, family members and the assorted person seem to like me in spite of my lack of notoriety.

Looking in the rear view mirror at Redmond after graduation, I have traveled many roads. I went on to higher education, and ultimately the school of life. My careers have included Flight Instructor, Oregon State Trooper and assorted titles working for the federal government in both fire control and aviation that spanned nearly 30 years. I’ve lived in Oregon, Idaho and Alaska wearing different "hats" while climbing the career ladder. Some of them have been: Smokejumper, Smokejumper Pilot, Lead Plane Pilot, ending with Regional Aviation officer. The final 13 years of my career was spent in Juneau, Alaska where I retired in 2002. My work was challenging, rewarding and dangerous. I feel extremely fortunate to have survived in my chosen profession, as many of my peers did not. The luxury of retiring at age 50 was a welcome one.

The sage advice of "work to live, not live to work" is well said and I have tried to follow it. After my first marriage failed, I was lucky enough to find love and marry again. Cindy and I have been together for over 35 years, and have raised two fine sons. Watching our boys participate and have success with sports, hunting and fishing has given me many of my greatest joys. They are both grown, on their own, and doing well. Neither are married, and as far as we know...there are no grandchildren either.

After retirement we moved to NW British Columbia, Canada along the banks of the Skeena River. It is a simple life in beautiful surroundings, with great hunting and fishing. A good place to be.

I was hoping that the reunion might be scheduled for June, as the river is flooding at that time from the spring run-off, but by August fishing is in full swing.  My time is usually spoken for a year in advance by family and friends that want to visit and have a chance to catch some nice fish too.  Cindy would be really "annoyed" if I left her in charge of the cooking, cleaning, entertaining and fishing duties for those already planning on heading north.

I will toast my classmates for good health and happiness while you are having fun at the reunion, from the banks of the Skeena. Thanks to the web managers' help, you can see some pictures of our place by clicking here, or going to the Photo Albums page of this site.

January 15, 1953 Retired - State of Oregon http://www.etsy.com/people/CarterCreekQuilts Married 1 Siuslaw Elementary, Siuslaw Grade, Siuslaw Jr High, Redmond High, Crook County High Yes No
After I graduated, I went to Phagens beauty school in Bend for a few months.  In 1971, I moved to Salem & went to work for the State of Oregon.  I worked for several agencies throughout the years & retired from Dept of Corrections in 2003.  Most of my State career was as Human Resources Manager.
I've been married to a great guy for over 34 years.  We moved to the country in 1996 to the small community of Lacomb (or "Hooterville" as we like to call it).  We have a small acreage but room enough for all our critters.
Most of my non-work interests are hot rods & motorcycles.  Yeah...I'm an old "motor head."  I've ridden dirt bikes since the 70s, started motocross at age 38 but haven't done any lately.  Since retiring, I bought a "cruiser" & now just hit the highways mostly.  During my time at home, I do quilting & have a business designing quilt patterns.

February 25, 1952 Office Manager/Bookkeeper Single Cloverdale, John Tuck, Redmond High School No No
Wow, 40 years sure did fly right by.  I am in Redmond and do enjoy hearing from everyone that we went to school with.

After High School, I attended Business School in Salem and then returned to Central Oregon.  In the early 80's, I moved to Anchorage, Alaska and spent some time working for an engineering firm there.

When the economy in Alaska started a downturn, I came back to Central Oregon and have been here ever since.  While Alaska was wonderful and fun - there is no place like home.  (And yes, I have a little black dog, but his name is not Toto!)

Looking forward to seeing everyone in August and catching up then.
